Welcome!

Biology Research

The Library can help you find books, articles, and reliable websites for your Current Issues Project.

Part I:  Finding a Good Topic

Doing some pre-research -- reading a little bit about your topic -- can help you focus your interests and identify a topic that is interesting and worth investigating.  Learning a little bit about your topic will also help you identify keywords, questions, and issues that will help you find good information about your topic.

Part II:  Finding and Evaluating Sources

Today we are going to gather background information on your topics using some of our article databases.

Part III: Citing Sources

APA Style: When you use data (statistics, facts, and other kinds of information) from websites, articles, and other sources, you need to put parentheses at the end of the sentence with the data. In the parentheses you tell the last name of the author and the year of article. This corresponds to a citation in your list of references that will show the reader where you found the information. Example and lots of help with citing sources: APA Citation Guide

CSE Style: When you use data in CSE style, you need to put a superscript number at the end of the sentence. This number corresponds to a citation in your list of references that will show the reader where you found the information. Example and lots of help with citing sources: CSE Citation Guide
