Dictionaries Assignment

Here at Cañada we have a Print and Online Dictionaries available for students. 

1.  Try looking up the library vocabularly below in the Merriam Webster Visual Dictionary.

  • Online catalog
  • Periodical
  • Circulation desk

2.  Try looking up more library vocabulary in the Oxford English Dictionary.  It will give you a lot of information!  Try scanning for the word "Library."

  • Stacks
  • Call number
  • Database

3.  Now that you know what a call number is, go to the stacks and find the shelf that has books starting with this call number:  PE.  Pick a book and write down the title.

4.  What other books are located on this shelf, in this part of the library?
