ENGL 100 and 105 Maher: Home

Welcome!

This guide will help you find sources you can use for your Argumentative Research Essay. It will also help you to locate the variety of resources you will need to write your research essay about an issue raised in books such as: Jean Twenge's IGen and/or Malcolm Harris' Kids These Days. You will explore books, databases and Internet websites that are full of information. You will also learn what a database is and how to use one. Click on one of the many tabs above this box.

  • Articles: This tab will lead you to a variety of subscription databases that contain articles on myriad topics.
  • MLA: This tab provides a direct link to Diane Hacker's invaluable guide to MLA documentation and formatting requirements.
  • Wikipedia!?: This tab will explain why Wikipedia should only be used as a starting point and should not be cited in a research paper. It also provides an alternative reference source: Gale Virtual Reference Library.
  • Books: Finally, this tab links you to the Peninsula Library System library online catalog.
