Welcome!

Welcome, English 100 students!

This guide will help you find an outside source that you can use for your "Facilitation" presentation on a part of Fast Food Nation. Here is an excerpt from your "Facilitations Guideline" handout:

"Your secondary source must be a scholarly, academic source. (This requires library research.) Your secondary source material should be from a reliable source and should be directly related to the topic you are presenting on-- either by supporting the topic, refuting the topic, or adding to the information presented about the topic."

Let's look at how we might do this with a couple of topics from earlier in the book: French fries and Chicken McNuggets. We might do research on the ingredients, “natural flavors”, chicken and poultry consumption, generically modified chickens; some history to match the fad in the nation, science some econ): 7-10

Let's explore these topics using:

  1. Gale Virtual Reference Library
  2. Gale Power Search
  3. Opposing Viewpoints
  4. JSTOR
