Although the campus is closed, librarians are available online the same hours as before:

• Mondays-Thursdays, 8 a.m.-9 p.m.

• Fridays, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

• Saturdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Using Google Scholar

Google Scholar is a version of Google that searches for academic articles and is often easier to use than databases. Connect Google Scholar to Cañada College and College of San Mateo databases by following these steps. 

  1. Search Google for Google Scholar
  2. Click on the three horizontal bars in the upper left-hand side of the page.
  3. Find Settings in the menu.
  4. Choose Library Links from the list on the left.
  5. Search for Cañada College and College of San Mateo. You may save up to five library links, as shown below.

The Association for Computing Machinery offers a repository of full-text articles and other materials as well as YouTube channels with thousands of subscribers. You can create an account for free here.

Find the OneSearch field on Cañada College Library's homepage to navigate to databases, then choose a database from the dropdown menus by alphabetical order or by name.

Where to find books in the new catalog

To find books in the Cañada College, find the OneSearch field on the Cañada College Library homepage. From there, choose Books & eBooks. Then choose Books OneSearch to find books in the college libraries.

AccessScience database

The AccessScience database provides access to hundreds of journals about computer science, programming, software design and information storage. Find publications of associations like ACM and IEEE from ACM Computing Surveys to Ziff Davis Smart Business.

Gale General OneFile: Computers & Technology

Safari Tech Books Online: the latest technology books

Most libraries, academic and public, grant access to Safari eBooks for the most current books in computer science and technology. Check your nearest public library's website also for Safari eBooks.

Science in Context database

On the homepage for the Science in Context database, you will see eight boxes organized by topics, including Math, Engineering and Technology, which includes computers, computer animation, computer assisted instruction, computer security, and computer storage. The Physics and Astronomy category also includes computers.
