What Is Alternative Medicine?

Alternative Medicine (also known as integrative medicine and CAM, for “complementary and alternative medicine”) is any medical or health related practice that is not supported through rigorous evidence gathering via the scientific method. Many traditional, plausible, and even accepted medical practices fit into this group. Common examples include homeopathy, chiropractics, acupuncture and pressure, Ayurveda medicine, and faith healing.

Complimentary medicine is any alternative or integrative medicine used alongside conventional medicine.
