On June 15, Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, lifted social distancing and capacity restrictions on businesses and activities. Masks will still be required in indoor settings for unvaccinated people and proof of vaccination or negative tests will be requested at large indoor events through Oct. 1.

On July 8, 2021, the San Francisco Health Officer revised Health Order C19-07y -- Safer Return Together to clarify and/or update requirements including those for high risk settings, masking, isolation and quarantine. C19-07y will continue until amended or rescinded by the Health Officer.

Note: On June 15, the California Blueprint for a Safer Economy was terminated, however statewide COVID-19 guidance continues for some settings. The San Francisco Health Officer's declaration of a health emergency arising from the pandemic will continue to be in effect.

COVID-19 Cases and Deaths
In order to monitor how the COVID-19 virus is spreading in our community, San Francisco public health officials are closely tracking the number of new COVID-19 cases confirmed each day, the total number of cases, and the total number of COVID-19 deaths. This data is shown below, and all data are provided by the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH).
