Being aware of opinion, bias, or political leaning in publications

Magazines, websites and books often state their mission, a reason for publishing what they write and the news they gather. Two weekly magazines with similar titles, National Review and The Nation, come from opposite ends of the political spectrum. Anyone seeking a full picture of an issue or event won't want to rely on publications that reflect their own social or political leanings, but would need to read a wide range of viewpoints.
